New Members of the Ertegun Hall of Fame

September 7, 2025

Jazz at Lincoln Center has added six new members to its Ertegun Hall of Fame, named in honor of Atlantic Records partner Nesuhi Ertegun, who was also the record label’s Vice President in Charge of Jazz.

The new Ertegun Hall of Fame musicians, selected for their “enduring contributions to music,” are: Joe Henderson (photo above), Abbey Lincoln (photo below), Thad Jones, Melba Liston, Horace Silver, and Tadd Dameron.

The new honorees will be recognized at a series of performances at Dizzy’s Club on October 21, 22, and 23. On October 21, Henderson will be celebrated by the Renee Rosnes Quaetet, and Lincoln will be honored by the Marc Cary Trio and vocalist Ekep Nkwelle. The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra will pay tribute to Jones on October 22, followed by the Future of Jazz Orchestra’s homage to Liston. On October 23, drummer Roger Humphries will celebrate the music of Silver, and the Vincent Gardner Nonet will pay tribute to Dameron.

The concerts begin at 7 p.m. For more information or to order tickets, log onto jazz.org or call (212) 258-9800.
