NC Jazz Festival Transitions to Livestream

January 1, 2022

Due to the rise in local Covid numbers, the North Carolina Jazz Festival, previewed in the February issue of Jersey Jazz, will not be presented live. Instead, a 90-minute event prerecorded at The Django Jazz Club in New York City will be livestreamed at 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 5. This concert can be accessed from the festival’s website: www.ncjazzfestival.org at no charge to viewers (click the bar on the website home page).

Eleven musicians performed at The Django. Trumpeter Bruce Harris (pictured above) was curator of the event, and videographer David Givens recorded it. It will continue to be available on the festival website. Among the musicians performing from The Django, in addition to Harris, were: guitarist Nate Najar, vocalist Steve Washington, tenor saxophonist Houston Person, and pianist Rossano Sportiello.

Six jazz artists will be performing from their homes on February 5. Among them are: pianist Leonore Raphael, multi-reedist Adrian Cunningham, and bassist/vocalist Nicki Parrott.

Although there is no charge for viewing this evening of jazz, those tuning in are encouraged to make a donation online through PayPal. All donations will go to the participating musicians.
