Two celebrated jazz artists are part of the fifth annual Immersive Residency program at Montclair State University’s John J. Cali School of Music: vocalist Jazzmeia Horn and saxophonist/clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera. The Immersive Residencies are week-long periods offering students the opportunity to collaborate with professional artists
The Grammy-nominated Horn will be on campus from December 10-14. Her latest album, Messages, on the Empress Legacy Records label, features 10 original compositions along with her interpretation of the Harry Warren-Al Dubin standard, “You’re Getting to Be a Habit with Me.”
D’Rivera’s residency will be from February 9-13, 2026. Winner of 16 Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, D’Rivera was recently honored as a Giant of Jazz at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (See cover story of the November 2025 Jersey Jazz). He is a charter member of Irakere and the Dizzy Gillespie United Nations Orchestra.
