Mini-Grants for Jazz Musicians

October 10, 2023

Jazz musicians who live in New Jersey are eligible for $1,000 mini-grants, which are funded by the Arts & Culture Renewal Fund at the Princeton Area Community Foundation (NJACRF) in order to provide direct relief to jazz musicians.

The grants, administered by the Jazz Arts Project, a nonprofit based in Red Bank, NJ, will provide direct relief to jazz musicians who have personally suffered the economic effects from the Covid-19 pandemic and are actively rebuilding careers and renewing a commitment to the art form.

Applicants must be a resident of the state of New Jersey, at least 21 years of age, and must not have been enrolled in a college or university as a student during the years 2022 or 2023.  Professional musicians with at least a strong foundation, performance history, and focus in jazz music may apply by filling out the entire application form, stating their personal connection to jazz and including links to performance videos or audio clips.  (Please do not include links to any site that must be joined in order to view.)

These funds may be used for any variety of reasons, such as healthcare, personal expenses, child care, home improvement, study, lessons, instrument repair, or purchase and more. The awards are limited to 20 recipients so musicians are urged to make a compelling case of need, renewal, and commitment in order to be selected from an estimated 100-200 applicants.  An independent panel of adjudicators will review all submissions and make their recommendations for the awards. Please fill out both sections of the application completely and accurately and to submit the application as soon as possible.

The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, November 26, 2023, by 11:59 p.m. Awards will be announced in mid-December and distributed before the end of the year. To apply, log onto https://www.jazzartsproject.org/grant.
