Jazz Arts Project to Honor Arturo O’Farrill

March 27, 2026

The Red Bank, NJ-based Jazz Arts Project will celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with three concerts and a gala in April at the Triumph Brewery:

  • Organist Leonieke Scheuble, Wednesday, April 8.
  • Trombonist Mariel Bildsten, Wednesday, April 15.
  • Vocalist Lezlie Harrison, Wednesday, April 22
  • Gala Performance/Fundraiser featuring pianist Arturo O’Farrill on Wednesday April 29.

At the Gala, O’Farrill and Triiumph Owner Adam Rechnitz will be honored as Jazz Arts Heroes.

In addition to the O’Farrill’s Afro-Latin Group, performers at the Gala will include the La Manga Latin Percussion Group and the Jazz Arts All Stars, a group of young musicians who attend or have graduated from the Jazz Arts Academy.

O’Farrill was the Jersey Jazz Magazine cover story in February 2022 in connection with a performance at Princeton’s McCarter Theatre. The winner of six Grammy Awards, he challenged the assumptions of what Afro-Latin music means. “We play music of all sorts,” he told Jersey Jazz‘s Schaen Fox. “We get on stage with no idea of what we’re going to do. We just start, and it’s beautiful, incredible improvisation at its best.”

The Jazz Arts Project’s mission is to preserve, promote, and perpetuate jazz by producing performances, creating jazz educational programs; and raising jazz awareness. For more information or to order tickets to the April events, log onto jazzartsproject.org or call (732)  784-3350.
