Trombone Shorty at State Theatre

November 18, 2024

In his review of Trombone Shorty’s 2022 Blue Note album, Lifted, Joshua Myers of DownBeat Magazine told his readers: “If you’ve never attended a Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue performance, you should probably fix that.” The album, he wrote, “is a real attempt to embody the electricity of the group’s world-renowned live set.”

New Jersey residents will have an opportunity to “fix that” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, at the State Theatre in New Brunswick. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will combine jazz, funk, pop, hip-hop, and rock music in a festive sound rooted in the trombonist/vocalist’s childhood. He played with Bo Diddley at age 3 and led his own brass band as a six-year-old.

The State Theatre is located at 15 Livingston Ave. in New Brunswick, NJ. For more information, or to order tickets, log onto stnj.org or call (732) 246-7469.
