Jazz at Lincoln Center has added seven new members to the Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame, named by JALC Board member Ahmet Ertegun and his wife, Mica, in honor of his late brother and Atlantic Records partner Nesuhi Ertegun. The new musician members, selected for their “enduring contributions to music,” are: Dave Brubeck (photo above), Kenny Clarke, Lou Donaldson, Kenny Dorham, Roy Haynes, Sheila Jordan (photo below), and Eddie Palmieri.
The new honorees will be recognized through a series of performances at Dizzy’s Club on October 15, 16, 17, and 30. The performances are: “Celebrating Roy Haynes” and “Celebrating Dave Brubeck”, October 15; Sheila Jordan and Kenny Dorham, October 16; Kenny Clarke and Eddie Palmieri, October 17; and Lou Donaldson, October 30.
Ninety-five-year-old Sheila Jordan will headline her own performance.
