Holiday Jazz Mix to Benefit Jazz Foundation

November 8, 2023

The Jazz Foundation of America, in partnership with 32 Bar Blues and Chiaroscuro Records, has released In The Key of Chiarascuro –Holiday Jazz Mix, a CD collection of holiday musical favorites, selected by Hank O’Neal, JFA Board Member and owner of the Chiaroscuro Records label. The album includes such tunes as “The Christmas Song”, performed by saxophonist Frank Foster, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by pianist Bill Charlap, and two versions of “Jingle Bells” — one by pianist Dorothy Donegan and the other by cornetist Nat Adderley.

32 Bar Blues, a California-based apparel company, will donate 100 per cent of the profits from sales of the CD and of the T-shirt, “Hit Me A Hot Note”, to support the Jazz Foundation of America’s Musicians’ Emergency Fund. The JFA averages 30 individual musician emergency cases a day and approximately 9,000 assists every year. The organization prevents homelessness with housing assistance, keeps artists healthy with pro bono medical care, and provides financial support that keeps the lights on and food on the table.

In addition, the JFA creates work opportunities for jazz musicians and connects them to community organizations in arts, medicine, education, and social services. For more information about the CD and T-shirt, log onto: http://www.jazzfoundation.org/
