Fascinatin’ Rhythm: Celebrating Ella Fitzgerald on Her Centennial
July 27 @ 6:00 PM
Experience the First Lady of Song in sound and video touching on over 50 years in the career of the woman who, over 20 years after her death, remains the gold standard. Tad Hershorn of the Institute of Jazz Studies on the Rutgers-Newark campus, who photographed Fitzgerald extensively between 1971 and 1991, will provide an evening of songs and reminiscence of this great artist.
This event is the first of a three-part series of jazz listening sessions led by Institute of Jazz Studies scholars in partnership with the Paul Robeson Galleries. These listening sessions will be held in the exhibition space of “Records at Play: The Institute of Jazz Studies @50.”
