1867 Sanctuary at Ewing: Wenonah Brooks – More Notes from Nonah
October 29 @ 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Wenonah Brooks is a renonwned vocalist from Hopewell NJ. Her style has been to bring the performance of jazz back to its fundamentals, namely, recognizable standard songs expressed in the form of the artist. Specifically, her performance is a synthesis of standard material from Porter, Hart, etc.… and her personal style of subtle interpretation steeped in blues and gospel tradition.
Accompanying her will be Matthew Parrish on string bass (you loved him recently at the Princeton Palmer Square Jazz Feast) and Radam Schwartz on keyboards. Matthew is a sought-after bassist, and has previously toured with Al Grey, and more recently with Regina Carter and Houston Person, and has recorded with many notable musicians including Wynton Marsalis, Paquito D’Rivera, etc. Radam is a highly regarded jazz organist and pianist, and has played with such great musicians as Arthur and Red Prysock, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, etc. He continues to make music history today playing with renowned artists Russell Malone, the Spirit of Life Ensemble, TK Blue, Conrad Herwig and many others.
